Recrystallisation and Trace-Element Mobility in Zircons: Implications for U-Pb Dating

چکیده

Complex microstructures of zircon recrystallisation have been discovered in igneous and metamorphic zircons from the Jack Hills Metasedimentary Belt Western Australia, granitic injection complex Harris north-west Scotland. Cathodoluminescence (CL), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) wavelength dispersive spectroscopy (WDS) analysis reveal that studied is often characterised by (1) translation, bending fading oscillatory zoning; (2) structural recovery zircon; (3) an enrichment Hf depletion Y recrystallised (4) formation a interface with minor (<2°) misorientation. A new, composite model which trace element dislocation migration occurs shortly after crystallisation during magmatic cooling pipe diffusion along arrays formed accumulation dislocations allows enhanced to enrich leach U, Pb Y. After event, subsequent metamictization primary (typically zoning) creates zones can structurally recover through diffusion-reaction re-equilibration mechanism, resulting further trace-element mobility. These mechanisms create zircons, suggesting detailed understanding history may be required accurately interpret its U-Pb ages.

(U-Th)/(He-Pb) DOUBLE DATING OF DETRITAL ZIRCONS

Geochronology and thermochronology on detrital material provides unique constraints on sedimentary provenance, depositional ages, and orogenic evolution of source terrains. In this paper we describe a method and case-studies of measurement of both U/Pb and (U-Th)/He ages on single crystals of zircon that improves the robustness of constraints in each of these areas by establishing both formatio...

Dating of Precambrian Metasedimentary Rocks and Timing of their Metamorphism in the Soursat Metamorphic Complex (NW IRAN): Using LA–ICP-MS, U–Pb Dating of Zircon and Monazite

Soursat Metamorphic Complex (SMC) in west of Takab city is one of the polyphase metamorphic terrenes in northern Sanandaj-Sirjan metamorphic belt of Iran. The SMC composed mainly of metasedimentary rocks associated with granitic intrusions. Based on metamorphic rocks, two metamorphic phases could be separate in the complex. M1 is representative of regional metamorphisms which varies from greens...
